Tongue Tie

Dr. Hamilton is a palliative medicine FRCPC specialist that has had years of experience performing tongue tie releases on infants. Dr. Kirk Hamilton was initially trained as a family physician and for over 25 years Dr. Hamilton delivered babies and provided newborn care before becoming a palliative medicine FRCPC specialist.

Having a tongue tie release performed by Dr. Hamilton on your infant is a free service for infants with a valid Ontario health card.

Dr. Hamilton has had years of experience in performing tongue tie (ankyloglossia) releases and will assess infants with possible ankylossia under the following circumstances:

  1. The mother infant pair has been experiencing difficulty breastfeeding.
  2. The mother is experiencing breast pain while feeding.
  3. The infant pair is having difficulty latching on to the breast or bottle with feeding.
  4. Your health care provider is concerned your infant may have a tongue tie (ankyloglossia).
  5. Your infant is less than 1 month of age.
  6. You are willing to have an appointment early mornings between 6:50 am – 9:00 am.

If you request to have Dr. Hamilton assess your infant for this condition, please ensure the following steps are completed:

  1. Have your care provider download the referral template and fax it to our office.
  2. Once you know this referral has been faxed to Doctor Kirk Hamilton’s office, please Email Dr. Kirk Hamilton’s office at the following link:  drhamiltoncircumcision@gmail.com with the following information to receive a more rapid appointment for this assessment:
